This was such a fun little guy to sketch. So playful - hopping in and out of the bamboo and flying back and forth. I wanted to paint him in all the warm colors: rich yellows, olive greens, burnt reds. I know it’s a weird thing to say about a painting, but I just love the belly of this bird, it makes me smile!
